aml Communications leveraged a comprehensive digital strategy and high-volume AV production to achieve nearly 4 million views, transforming a localized cultural carnival into a global digital phenomenon

For aml Communications (formerly OdishaLIVE Media Services), the 78th Bargarh Dhanuyatra Mahotsava (2025-26) was not just an assignment; it was a masterclass in managing a “living legacy.” As the official communication partner for the second consecutive year, we undertook the monumental task of documenting and strategizing the digital outreach for the world’s largest open-air theatre.

Our mission was clear: to bridge the 78-year-old mythological tradition of Bargarh with a global digital audience, ensuring that “Where Mythology Comes Alive” resonated across every screen.

The Canvas: Mathura and Gopapur
For 11 days, from December 24, 2025, to January 3, 2026, the entire landscape of Bargarh was transformed. Bargarh city became the majestic Mathura, while Ambapali was reimagined as Gopapur. Against this backdrop, aml Communications deployed a multi-layered strategy to capture the “Culture Without Curtains.”

Our production bandwidth was tested and proven through the creation of a vast library of content. We deployed multiple camera teams across key hubs—the Raj Darbar, Ranga Mahal, and Nanda Darbar—to systematically document the narrative arc from King Kansa’s ascension to the climactic Kansa Vadha.

Strategy in Action: Precision and Curation
Manpower is the currency of a creative agency, and our team of producers, writers, and digital managers operated with a “Human-First” commitment to social context. The 78th edition required a refined storytelling approach that catered to both the local devotee and the global observer.

Character-Driven Engagement: We didn’t just film performances; we humanized the legends. We produced byte captures and specialized photoshoots of key characters like Maharaj Kansa (portrayed by Sushil Kumar Meher) and Krishna (portrayed by Swopnil Mohapatra). Five strategically designed countdown cards featured these characters to build pre-event anticipation.

Navigational Clarity: To enhance public participation, we designed dual daily agenda cards—one for Mathura (featuring Kansa) and one for Gopapur (featuring Krishna)—allowing visitors to navigate the sprawling 11-day schedule with ease.

Interactive Knowledge Management: To foster a “learning” environment, we executed a daily interactive quiz campaign. Using six distinct design formats, we engaged the audience with questions about the history and mythology of Dhanuyatra, promoting the cultural heritage of Western Odisha.

The Digital Footprint: 4 Million and Beyond
The outcome of our commitment was a measurable surge in global visibility. By integrating official hashtags like #78thBargarhDhanuyatra and #OpenAirTheatre, we ensured discoverability across platforms.

  • Social Media Volume: Nearly 200 posts were published during the 11-day window.
  • AV Impact: We produced 61 total short videos, including 52 reels and 9 short audio-visuals tailored for Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
  • The Outreach: The campaign achieved nearly 4 million cumulative views on Facebook and Instagram alone, with an additional 1,53,000 views on YouTube.

National Recognition and Institutional Support
Our strategic communication caught the attention of the highest offices in the country. The Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, shared a post appreciating the cultural depth of the festival, a moment that significantly expanded the event’s outreach.

Furthermore, our content was amplified by the CMO Odisha & I&PR Department, reinforcing aml Communications’ role as a trusted partner for government-led flagship events.

Diversity of Content: A Multi-Format Approach
Beyond the drama of the Raj Darbar, we focused on the broader cultural ecosystem:

  • Heritage Focus: We provided focused coverage of the Pallishree Mela and the Swadeshi Handloom & Handicraft Mela, highlighting rural livelihood initiatives.
  • Creative Competitions: From a Rangoli competition involving 375 students to an Artist Camp featuring 32 artists, we documented every creative facet of the Mahotsava.
  • Knowledge Products: The association concluded with the creation of a special post-event newsletter covering the festival’s 7-decade-long voyage.

Leadership Perspective
Reflecting on the successful execution of this massive communication mandate, Nilambar Rath, Founder & CEO of aml Communications, expressed his pride in the project:

“It has been an extraordinary privilege for our team to manage the communication for an event as culturally profound as the Bargarh Dhanuyatra. For us, this wasn’t just about media management; it was about honoring a living tradition. I must congratulate the Bargarh District Administration for their tireless passion and precision in organizing an event of such vast scale and historical importance. Their dedication provided the perfect canvas for us to showcase Odisha’s cultural prowess to the world.”
